The Deep Run Marching Wildcats is the marching band of Deep Run High School in Glen Allen, VA. The band was founded with the opening of Deep Run High School in 2002. Beginning in 2003, while the band was under the direction of Frank S. Chlorie, the band was named a VBODA Virginia Honor Band each year for five years. Twice competing at Bands of America at Towson University, the band placed 13th out of 25 bands in 2007, and made finals in 2008, placing 9th. The Deep Run Marching Wildcat Band has several staff members and is currently directed by Jaraun M. Ransome.[1] Deep Run High School has also obtained the Blue Ribbon School award for music two years in a row, which involves all music programs being awarded superior ratings at state festivals. The band has also garnered attention on the international stage, being invited to perform as far away as England in the 2007 London New Year's Day Parade.

Since 2005, Deep Run has hosted a marching invitational, which has grown to draw many bands' attendance in both competition and exhibition. In 2006, Deep Run began hosting an indoor percussion and winter guard competition as well, with a number of high school and college groups coming to perform from across the state.
Since the founding of the band program in 2002, the concert band has been an integral branch along with the marching band. From the first year to the spring of 2004 the program consisted of a single sit-down Concert Band performing concert music grades IV-V. Rapid growth in the band program quickly necessitated the creation of a second band, so in the Fall of 2004 the Wind Ensemble was created to divide the band into an elite group of dedicated high school musicians playing the most challenging repertoire, mostly consisting of Grade VI literature.[2] Currently the band structure remains the same, with the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble playing and rehearsing separately but under the direction of the same director; however, only the Wind Ensemble's scores at musical festivals count towards the overall standing of the school's awards and ratings, specifically the rank of Virginia Honor Band and the Blue Ribbon School.
